Just so that I can have a test system for ARM distributions, I’ve been quietly shopping for a computer than can run such distributions. Chromebooks are atop my shopping list, but I like to take my time. Maybe the price for the one I want will drop to close to $100.00 USD. You never know.
The “freedom” issue surrounding Chromebooks is well documented, same with Windows 8 certified systems. So, which one is better? Or which one gives you less or more freedom?

Much like Chromebooks, Windows 8 certified systems are required to permit the user to disable Secure Boot. In contrast to Chromebooks, Windows 8 certified systems are required to permit the user to install their own keys. And, unlike Google, Microsoft will sign alternative operating systems. Windows 8 certified systems provide greater user freedom than Chromebooks.
